‹› abundance, reflection and balance ‹›
most everyone knew them as the Lady and Lord, a gracious couple of Magic who had a wondrous cottage in the midst of the Enchanted Forest. for many generations legends and stories were told of them: it seems they had lived for centuries, were part elf or dragon or both, could work miracles, were Lord and Lady, Priest and Priestess, Sorcerer and Sorceress, and so on.... one point upon which all agreed was the it was always a pleasure to see them. the Lady and Lord's hearts overflowed with goodness and compassion and everyone felt blessed when they appeared.
on this day, Mabon, the festive days and nights leading to the autumnal equinox, people from all around knowingly gathered at Hidden Lake, for the couple would certainly appear there. and appear they did, materializing out of the very air. the Lady was clad in a deep indigo gown as dark as night, and the Lord in a white-golden robe of sunlight. as they each gathered fallen leaves in their hands they spoke as one:
"we come on this day to bring you blessings and celebrate abundance at the balance of night and day, ." at the same time, the Lady threw her leaves into the lake and the Lord tossed his into the sky. and in that one voice, a sublime balance of feminine and masculine, of dark and light, they continued.
"the leaves in the sky have formed the ancient rune, Jera, which signifies harvest, and in the lake lies the reflection. look into the lake and reflect on the fortunes and misfortunes you have experienced in the past half year. see them clearly in each leaf, then let them go to float in the Lake of the past. now gaze into the sky and see each leaf as your intent and your wishes for the coming half year. see them clearly, then allow them to be given to the Sun so he may take them into your future. at this time of equal day and night, many portals are opened to bring you abundance and fruitfulness. let them be magnetized to you as you see your past pass with the leaves, and your future given to Creation. it is the time to harvest that which has been done. give thanks for this harvest deep in your heart, and more bounty shall certainly come your way. celebrate now, with your glorious future in mind, as the Sun God slowly returns to the arms of the Goddess and the loving night begins to bring the stars of winter."
with that, the Lord walked into the embrace of the Lady and they both began to disappear. in their place was left a bountiful feast. the people shouted their thanks and blessings to the air, hoping the glorious couple of Magic could hear them.
wishing you a Merry Mabon
