‹› whole hearted belief ‹›
Kali the mystical cat companion was quite insistent with her desire to talk in the misty hours of early morning. she honored me by being patient, but started as soon as i settled next to her in the grass to listen:
"i do not know whether it was a waking dream or a sleeping dream, since there is truly no difference in my world" she began, "but the Great White Tiger, Mother to us all, has blessed me with a visit and a story. it seems there once was this Bengal who grew up with half a heart. he had a complete heart in his body, but only half a heart in his spirit, in his belief. it was not always that way; as a cub he had many ideas and inspirations that he shared whole~heartedly with the colony. he was told time and again that he was silly and ignorant, and that he would never amount to anything unless he adhered to the prescribed paths the other Bengals followed. soon, as is in the nature of young ones, he began to believe this and his heart for new ideas diminished, and he convince himself that he truly was ignorant and had no talent for anything. as a young adult he would go upon the path to hunt with the others, but he went with half a heart and with fractured belief. he would say to himself, 'i will not find anything anyway. i am ignorant and have no talent.' of course, since he believed it to be true it always ended up that way.
"at one point the normal watering place dried up and the Bengals all went on the prescribed circuit looking for water. each subsequent place was dry as well. while the others continued on the same path, our half~hearted friend drew back and stopped thinking to himself, "i would not be of any help anyway. i might as well wait here.' just then a tiny cub who had gotten lost came upon him mewing plaintively. 'i am so very thirsty' she cried. 'please find us some water.' our friend turned to her and said, 'no i don't think i can. you best follow the others little one.' 'oh, but i am certain you can' responded the cub; 'you have brilliance, i can tell. i believe in you. please? i am so very thirsty.' the Bengal's heart began to grow again with her belief in him and her need for him to be strong. 'well,' he said looking up to the sky, 'i suppose if we follow those birds they might lead us to water. but i will have to strike a new path.' 'oh please, yes. i will follow you. i believe in you... i truly do!'
"so our friend wholeheartedly struck out on this new path fully believing they would find water, and when he saw the birds landing just ahead he rushed forward with the cub, and indeed they came directly upon a beautiful pond full of delicious water. the little cub began to cry and splash around saying 'oh i knew you could do it! you are the most brilliant tiger ever!' the Bengal's heart and belief were overflowing as he let out a gigantic roar to announce to all the others that he had found water. he never doubted again and his life was subsequently abundant with inspiration and success.
"as the Great White Mother left my vision she said, 'do not let the path of others dictate your life, Kali. believe in your own brilliance and go whole~heartedly into the world with that belief."
"thank you wise cat" i said to Kali, and she humbly replied; "oh, it wasn't me, but the Great White. i am just a good dreamer...."
