‹› blending mortar ‹›

"be conscious, that is to say, aware of the mortar with which you lay your stones" offered the Master Mason to his apprentices. "it is the glue which holds your structure together, and from the foundation to the top turret it must be the correct blend of elements, tempered to perfection.... too flexible, too loose, and the structure will not hold; too rigid, it crumbles and the structure will also not hold. the best mortar communicates with the stone, the events, the parts, which comprise your building; allows them to settle without cracking or breaking, knows when the stones need to give a little in the face of life and the movement of earth.  you don't suppose the Great Architect of the Universe would allow shoddy mortar, do you?" "no, Master Mason, no..." the apprentices replied. "of course She would not!" the Mason continued. "you do not want to use it in life either, so you certainly do not want an inferior blend in your construction. so, be cautious to utilize the correct mortar ~ that which integrates diverse parts into one strong, healthy organism. 

"one other thing before you leave" the Mason said as the apprentices were preparing to go." your structure needs good windows and doors to admit light and air into your house. this way you may always allow friends to come and go as freely as you wish, but you will also be able to see if something of danger to you or your structure approaches. certainly the openings must also be fortified with the perfect mortar, but the keystone to placing these doors and windows is clarity.

" so; apply easy diligence with your knowledge, your intuition, your body and your spirit, and you shall be rewarded with a completed structure that is beautiful and endures through the passages of life and time. away with you now, dear apprentices, and dream of exquisite castles and a prosperous, long life...."
