‹› the web we weave... ‹›
sleep was impossible. she had tossed and turned all night, thinking about this and worried about that. 'nothing is right in my life' she thought. ' it has always been that way. and it will probably always will be that way....'
just then, an incredibly bright light shone through her window, so bright that she had to shade her eyes to look. to her immense surprise, the dreamcatcher she had hanging in the window, which by the way had never stopped bad dreams nor given her good dreams, was glowing and she could see the face of an old woman in the web of the catcher. she was stupefied, especially when the woman spoke with a voice as old as the Earth.
"what is upsetting you, my daughter?" asked the voice. apparently noticing the aura of disbelief in the younger woman's face, the voice continued: "i am Spider Woman, and since your dreamcatcher has caught me, i am here to help if you need.... what is bothering you child?"
"well, my life is terrible" answered the young woman, suspending her disbelief. "i try and try but everything seems to go wrong. plans i make never work out. of course i really don't expect them to; they never have before, so i'm not surprised."
"be careful of the web you weave, dear girl" said the old woman. "your thoughts will continue to bring you nothing if you if you continue in this way. just as i have woven the web of life for my people, everyone weaves their own web. you weave it by what you think, by what you see. the past is gone my child; let it be passed. and the future is being woven as we speak; weave it as you wish. every day, bless that which you have and spend time thinking on the wonder and the beauty of life. you can see it all around you if you look and expect to see it. allow your dreamcatcher to catch thoughts that make you happy and dwell on those. thoughts and words are extremely powerful dear ~ they are the substance with which we weave. when you find yourself cursing the life you lead, immediately change that thread for one of joy and expectation for the wondrous life you may create. let this become your habit, your Way, and you shall reap magnificent rewards as you go. when a spider's web is destroyed by wind or rain or tramping animals, she does not bemoan it's passing, rather goes forward with a light heart to create a new and stronger one. allow this to be your method of weaving my daughter and you shall soon begin to see your life changing and glowing in the bright light of divine creation from you. so now, go to sleep for a while, and dream of excellent possibilities and they will come alive as you wake into this world again. the web we weave is the life we shall live; weave well my daughter, weave well...."
the next morning, the young woman wasn't sure whether she had dreamed it all or not, but she went about her day and felt increasingly better, following Spider woman's advice...
