"today is Lammas, the Festival of the First Fruits of Harvest!" pronounced the ancient Bard who always joined the celebration of Lammas. as everyone shouted their greetings and happily gathered 'round him in the field, he produced a harp from the air it seemed and lifted his melodious voice to sing:
"rejoice and behold, yes, behold and rejoice!
'tis the harvest of our Mother Earth
who stays us from hunger, and guards us from dearth,
so behold, behold... rejoice, rejoice!
for now 'tis surely the time of birth.
behold, rejoice... rejoice, behold;
the Empress has come to bless our labors
as we gather wheat with scythe and sabers..
She brings us gifts of bounty and gold,
for me, for thee, for all thy neighbors
all she looks upon grows tender yet bold;
She nurtures our gardens and assists our schemes,
with patience and love she flows as the streams.
so yes! rejoice, rejoice and behold
the Empress helps us to capture or dreams.
open your hearts, rejoice and respect;
on this Lammas dear friends, become as She
for now the plant has risen from seed...
here is food, comfort and all you expect,
so become the Gardener and nurturing be....
"rejoice and behold, yes, behold and rejoice!
'tis the harvest of our Mother Earth
who stays us from hunger, and guards us from dearth,
so behold, behold... rejoice, rejoice!
for now 'tis surely the time of birth.
may the blessings of Lammas
bring the fruits of our labors,
for thee, for me,
for all our neighbors...."
