a horse of a different color
they were on their way home from a playful romp in the pasture when she led the group onto a path they had not taken before. several of them whinnied at her and said, "we're going the wrong way, Your Grace! home is the other direction!" she turned to look at them and replied "it is not the 'wrong way', merely a different way. sometimes it is advisable to change your normal patterns and paths, my ponies, just to see what you may see... shall we?"

so they went ahead on the new path, when one of the stragglers munching on grass looked up and shouted, "what is that?" Her Grace trotted back, looking across the field and said "why Leroy, you act as if you've never seen a horse. take a look at your own reflection in the water, dear boy..." "yes, well, i know it's a horse, but it is such an odd and ugly color" he answered. "he might consider you just as odd with your purple spots and yellow mane..." "but we all have purple spots" he interrupted.
"yes we do," answered Her Grace, "but does that make us better than him? no, just different. sometimes what we think of as 'right' or 'wrong' is merely by habit of familiarity; what you get used to seeing, is what you feel comfortable with, and therefore you think it to be 'right'. in truth, that horse of a different color is the same as you. he eats the grass, he romps in the fields, he feels joy and pain just as do you all. it is good to not only accept those who are different than we, but to also celebrate those differences, and learn from them... remembering all the while that in the core of our beings we are all a part of, and live in, this beautiful Divine Pasture."
"i think he's kind of cute" whispered Tia to her friend and sidled over closer to him.... and as the group trotted on down the path, if one were to look, one could see a lovely purple-spotted horse nuzzling happily with a very handsome Roan....
please practice respect and tolerance on you Way,
