mirrored beauty
he was walking thru' the grove fully absorbed in his Mentor's recent lesson on the beauty of everything in creation, when he heard the unmistakable sound of someone sobbing coming from behind a bush. he peered around and saw a young girl sitting on the ground crying.
he was walking thru' the grove fully absorbed in his Mentor's recent lesson on the beauty of everything in creation, when he heard the unmistakable sound of someone sobbing coming from behind a bush. he peered around and saw a young girl sitting on the ground crying.
"what's the matter little Miss? are you hurt?" "yes... my.. heart hurts..." she replied between sobs. ""may i know why?" asked the student, sitting down beside her. "mmm, alright; the other girls don't like me. they tell me i'm ugly!" "and do you believe them?" "yes, i do" whimpered the girl.
"hmmm. i wonder what they are looking at? let me ask you something little Miss ~ look at this flower here. what would you say if i told you i thought it wasn't pretty? would you believe me?" "no! i would say you're crazy! that's one of the most beautiful flowers ive ever seen..." "and what if i told you that what you see in the flower is a reflection of your own beauty, just like looking in a mirror?" "really?" said the girl, smiling up at him. "really" replied the student, "let's hear what the flowers are saying...." he waved his hand over the blossom and she could hear them then as if by magic ~
'look at that beautiful little girl' one was saying. 'her hair shines every bit as much as my petals in the sun, her eyes are as pretty as any blossom, and her smile lights up the entire Grove! why even the tears of sadness on her cheeks glisten as do we after morning rain....'
"see?" asked the student. "they reflect and appreciate the wondrous and beautiful creation you are. perhaps those other girls are seeing something reflected they don't like about themselves, and just tease you to keep from looking at that. do you still believe them that you're ugly?" "no" replied the girl. "they have no idea what they're talking about!"
"wonderful. let's walk a bit and find other things to reflect our beauty...."
