‹› the Urban Shaman ‹›
"it may seem a little strange" Cleo had said to Ron earlier, "but the word on the street is that she can divine guidance and advice from almost anything, and has helped a lot of people. they call her the Urban Shaman, but i think her name is Sara." they agreed to ask her to come to their apartment, and now, here she was, a normal looking woman with a glint of pleasure in her eyes for all she looked upon.
"let me see what i can see" she said immediately to Ron and Cleo. "may i look in your fridge?" a rhetorical question since she had already opened the door to the refrigerator.... "ah ha, i see" Sara exclaimed with her head deep inside. then she pulled out, closed the door, turned to the two of them, closed her eyes and spoke.
"i am a woman of few words, and here they are: there is an obstacle in your life. this obstacle is the ice frozen over your movement on the path. as it is with ice, this will melt away in time, but you are trying to fight it now, wasting your energy and getting nowhere. the more you fight it, the more dangerous it becomes. stop trying to exercise control over this situation, and prepare yourself for when it melts. sometimes, dear hearts, there will be things over which you have no control. this is normal, and a part of interactive existence... but in times such as this, should you continue to attempt control over the situation, you will only end up dog tired. you may not always be able change things to be as you would like them to be. however, the important point to remember here is what you can control: your choice of reaction and response. you have power over this and only this in this instance. so, stop fighting the obstacle, accept it as temporary and allow it to melt away. look into your selves and know that you can respond with warmth, patience, love... and at all costs with truth of spirit and belief. in that way, you will be prepared to go forward serenely and happily when the ice barring your way disappears."
with that, Sara the Urban Shaman opened her eyes and sparkled at the stunned couple. "alright then" she chuckled, "may i have that beer in the fridge?" a rhetorical question, since she already had it in her hand and was beginning to drink....
