‹› the power of choice ‹›
Shakespeare's voice wafted by
borne on a breeze from off the sea,
and i took delight yet no surprise
in the wisdom that he offered me:
'wheresoever goeth an open heart
surely in the wake a blossom shall be,
for whenever in life love plays its part
the beauty of truth shall bloom for thee....
when on a path of disdain and hate
aches shall come and tears may flow,
yet, allow those thoughts to wane and abate
then pain is done and fears shall go.
close not thy heart in the travails of life
nor shut away thy nurturing Grace;
rather see the start of lessening strife
and let the light of love play upon thy face.
for, wheresoever goeth an open heart
surely in the wake a blossom shall be ~
so, in thy voice sing the song of the Lark
and blessings shall come as deep as the Sea.'
i stood in the ripple and rode on the wave
of the fading vibrations of Shakespeare's voice,
and knew in each moment of each waking day
there lives in our heart the power of choice.
