‹› forget me not ‹›
three Cherubim were flying high in the sky. he could not believe his eyes which had never before seen what wasn't so. he was not a man given to fantasy in the least, so he rubbed at his eyes and looked again. the little angels were still there, dancing in the clouds and laughing with an innocent glee. he shook his head over and over to dispel the sight, but when he glanced up yet again, they were still there pointing at him and saying things he could not understand. "i must be losing my mind" he mumbled to himself pinching his arm to make certain he was awake and not dreaming.
at that very second, a little boy who looked vaguely familiar to him tugged on his coat and said, "can you see them?" "see what?" said the man, not wanting to admit anything yet. "the three Cherubs in the sky. i see them all the time" answered the boy. "er... well, yes, i suppose i can" muttered the man. "can you hear them too?" asked the child. "well, yes, but what they are saying i do not understand...."
the laughter coming from the small boy with familiar eyes sounded very much like that of the Cherubim as he took the man's hand and said; "then let me tell you please. i understand them very well. they are pleading with you to play. they say over and over 'play, play, play today; find some time to play. laugh and sing and bring some joy today and every day....'" the young one looked up at the man for a moment, then continued. "they seem to think you have forgotten  how to enjoy yourself. is this true?" "yes, i suppose it is" replied the man, a little shyly.
"oh, that's too bad" said the boy, "for the further you go away from play, the harder your life will be. you will then forget to see the magic in life and the beauty that surrounds you. your work will be toil instead of pleasure, and you'll never get as far as you want to be. you must find some time every day to do as they say, or believe me dear sir, you shall wither away." he laughed again exclaiming, "see! i just made a poem, that is one way to show them... i know how to play and it is a happy day!"
the man started a bit in realization, then laughed too and said "alright, i shall try, although i am a little shy, to listen to the Cherubim dancing in the sky!" "wonderful!" said the boy; "keep at it and you shall thrive!"
they both laughed well together and the man felt better and better. then the little boy with familiar eyes turned to go. the man called after him, "wait. who are you young sir?" the boy turned and smiled; "why, i thought you knew ~ i am you...."

may a little laughter bless us every day
