‹› not the expected path ‹›

she was a legend by this time ~ the Shell Teller they called her ~ and many people would wait on the beach where she last appeared in hopes of seeing her  and benefiting from her Sight. the Shell Teller, however, rarely showed up in the same place twice, and just as rarely if ever approached the people waiting for her. on this day, she rose from the ocean on a rocky beach worlds away from any on which she had been seen before. with shells and coral hanging all over her body, water and seaweed dripping from her she clamored straight up to a young man deep in thought by a pool of water collected around sea floor rocks at low tide. to his amazement, she threw her hands in the air with a shout flinging dozens of shells into the air. the shells flowed easily down to the pool  and floated on the water in a circular design. "the Shell Teller" the young man whispered in awe. "whatever you choose to call me, young sir, i have something to say to you." she knelt down by the pool and began talking as if she were thousands of miles away:

"you ponder your future, Caleseus, as is appropriate for a young person. i can tell you this; if you follow the line presented to you by what you have known in life, it will be a difficult, unpleasant road fraught with disaster and totally incompatible with the person you are. however, if you should take the path that others do not venture onto, you can become a great and important leader of humans. you have known only fighting and war, Caleseus, and are expected to continue in the way of the warrior as have many before you. you have the chance and the power to stop this pattern in the world you know. gaze upon these shells young man; they float in harmony and create a beautiful flower. this is the lotus blossom in your core, Caleseus. sit in the center of the inner lotus, and you will understand in your heart and in your spirit that the way of destruction is not the Way for you. choose another path now before you are completely lost to the insanity of the old energy, and you will become a strong and sane voice for the people of the world.

"consider the shells yet further, young sir. they rest and float in harmony as people are able to do if they are guided by a leader with love and peace in the core depths of their being. take the unexpected path and become one of those magnificent, beneficent leaders. view each of these shells as different beliefs in the world.. conflicting beliefs are what most fighting and wars are about. if you sit in the center of this lotus as a great leader of people, you will see that all these beliefs can and must exist in harmony. examine these beliefs and the people who hold them as you grow young sir, and you will come to know that all of them have a common center and come to this realization of harmonious co-existence if guided toward that path. you can become one of the guides on this glorious, peaceful path if you so choose to blaze it. ponder well, dear Caleseus; choose well, for what you choose now may very well alter the path of the world you know. every action creates ripples, dear boy. may your powerful ripples seek and work for a peaceful, harmonious path for the people of your world."

before Caleseus could voice a question or a thank you, the Shell Teller shook her hands quickly over the pool and all the shells returned to her body as she turned and strode back to the ocean, saying, "no questions, and do not thank me ~ just do me the honor of pondering and choosing well!" and she was swallowed up by the sea to be seen again who knew where....

ponder peace and guide toward harmony
